Tulsi

It is cultivated in gardens throughout india, Nepal and the Deccan Peninsula;

Part Used

Leaves, Root, Seed.

Therapeutic Uses

Hiccups,Cough, In cases of minor food poisoning,
Bronchial Asthma, Halitosis, Abdominal Worms esp, round worms. Various kind of skin hypo pigmentation, Malaria.




Home Remedies

COUGH

5ml juice of Tulsi leaves with honey added to it; taken twice a day can take care of cough.

IRRITATION / REDNESS OF EYES

Tulsi works well in such conditions. Add a little bit of honey to Tulsi juice; 2 to 3 drops of this mixture can be administered to the effected eye, every 3 to 4 hrs.

EAR ACHE

4 to 5 drops of Tulsi juice in the ear in every 3 to 5 hrs can minimize the ear ach and also take care of any mild infection that can be prevailing in the external ear canal.

URTICARIA

In case of urticaria (any kind of allergic skin rash) Paste of Tulsi leaves can be applied over the affected part. This treatment will significantly take care of the burning sensation in the rash and also the itching that is present

INTERMITANT FEVERS (Esp. Malaria)

An infusion or decoction of fresh leaves of Tulsi can be an alternative in Chronic malarial fevers because of its action on the liver.
